Posting has been erratic lately and for that I am sorry. I have been caught up in the details of my life and neglected something that brings me great joy which is blogging. For those of you that are concerned, everything is going extremely well; I just haven’t had much time to research quotes and such. Today, I just want to share something with you that was told to me by one of the sales reps I supported when I first started in this industry. I was frustrated because after a year, I felt extremely capable that I could match and exceed the efforts and revenue of several other people in our office that I also supported. He just kept reminding me that the cream always rises to the top. A lot of times when we get disappointed about something not being the way we want it to be; we slack off and let the resentment build. That is a huge mistake. Instead, I continued to shadow the people that were doing well and glean knowledge from them as well as observe what wasn’t working for the others. Guess what I found out? The unsuccessful reps were mad because they didn’t have certain key accounts so they didn’t value the ones they had. They justified their lack of effort and at that point what manager is going to throw a potentially big account to someone that hasn’t succeeded with the mid-size ones? I kept my eye on the ball and believed that if I continued to put my full effort in, eventually they would see what I could do and promote accordingly. In the grand scheme of things that company closed but I was hired as an outside rep for the company I still work for 4 years later. A good majority of the accounts I supported continued to do business with me because I was the one that delivered while their actual account manager pretended to be busy. Just remember, when you feel let down or undervalued by your peers, increase your self-worth. Believe that you are the cream and will rise to the top in your standing in life whether it be career or anything you apply yourself to. People catch on and recognize true ambition.
That is so true!
