And you thought I was going to wish everyone Happy Valentines!
My friend was calling it 'Happy Singles Awareness Day' and I thought that seemed more appropriate. I didn't get roses but I did receive my Dallas Opera 50th anniversary t-shirt and the Barber of Seville CD in the mail. Ergo, I am too sophisticated for this Hallmark Holiday but then again, it is a t-shirt and not the tiara and pristine white gloves I had hoped for.
When I went to college in Ohio, I was unaware of this thing called 'Sweetest Day' that they practice in the Midwest. It is the same concept as Valentines but in the fall. My first sememster there, people asked me what I was going to do for Sweetest Day and in my ignorance I went out and bought a bag of m&m's.
Too bad I wasn't aware you were celebrating "Singles Awareness Day" ergo I would have sent you some fine holiday fanfare from the local Halmark store such as talking-teddy-bears-hugging-hearts, trashy heart shaped jewelry, or perhaps even something with a cute kitten kissing a penguin.
Clearly I share your thoughts on "Hallmark Holidays"
Hope all is well.
